Chemist Warehouse Bushfire Response

Friday, 10th January 2020

Australia is currently in the grip of some of the most devastating fires in living memory, with multiple fire fronts raging across the country, devastating many of our treasured communities.

Collectively, our hearts go out to each and every Australian affected by these fires.

Like many of you, Chemist Warehouse feels compelled to help - to do our bit to support these communities around the country, our communities.  To this end, Chemist Warehouse has partnered with The Salvation Army to assist and support those in need.

Chemist Warehouse and its store owners have committed to;

  • Donating $250,000 worth of vouchers to people in affected communities (to be distributed by the Salvation Army)
  • Distributing over $100,000 of product directly to relief centres
  • Collecting funds on behalf of The Salvation Army Bushfire Relief at all Chemist Warehouse stores. Current tally is $625,662.
  • An additional donation of $300,000 directly to The Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal

Chemist Warehouse would like to encourage everyone to do what they can to support their fellow Australians in their hour of need. To make donating easier and seamless, Chemist Warehouse is enabling all customers to donate to The Salvation Army in-store when they next visit a Chemist Warehouse.

100% of funds donated at Chemist Warehouse will help The Salvation Army to provide practical on-the-ground, in-community support to those impacted by these fires.
Chemist Warehouse Managing Director, Mario Verrocchi said; “ Sadly, Australia is facing one of the most devastating natural disasters in our history, and we as a member of the Australian business community and the community more broadly, wholeheartedly believe we should be doing our bit to help and support where we can."
“We believe the best way for us to do so, is through supporting the vital work of The Salvation Army as they tirelessly strive to get these communities back on their feet."

The Salvation Army spokesperson Major Bruce Harmer said; “We are so grateful for Chemist Warehouse partnering with us in support of local communities across Australia. The Salvation Army is committed to standing with fire affected communities for months and years ahead until they get back on their feet. You may never meet the people you support by donating to our disaster appeal, but be assured 100% of the funds raised will go directly to supporting fire affected communities. Thank you on their behalf for your generosity.”
