Dear Valued Customers,

We are an essential service and are working around the clock to make sure you have access to all your medicine and healthcare needs. In delivering on this promise, the health and safety of our staff and customers is our highest priority. We are continuously adapting our business and procedures to reduce the risk to our staff and customers during this rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

Dispensing & supply of medicines

Our pharmacists are following legislation and professional standards to ensure dispensing and supply of medicines is safe and appropriate for our customers.

The Australian Government advises that there are no medicine shortages currently in Australia due to COVID-19 and does not recommend the stockpiling of medicines. To ensure the ongoing supply of essential medicines the Australian Government has placed limits on the dispensing and supply of some prescription and over-the-counter medicines. Please respect these limits and our pharmacy team when they communicate these limits.

Please be advised that pharmacists are not allowed to provide you with multiple supplies of your prescription medicines without getting your doctor’s permission to do so. And this should only be in exceptional circumstances.

Pharmacist consultations

Our pharmacists will continue to provide medicine and health advice to customers but will limit non-essential services in the short-term.

Immunisation services

The delivery of flu vaccination to as many Australians as possible is even more vital this year and our service will continue as planned. Additional measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. These include: electronic consent forms, enhanced pre-screening for COVID-19 symptoms and customers who should be self-isolating, use of personal protective equipment for the immuniser, additional cleaning and disinfecting procedures and arranging the waiting area to ensure social distancing.

We are also trying to source additional flu vaccines to meet the unprecedented demand for the services this year.

Cleaning & hygiene

Our pharmacies have implemented additional cleaning and hygiene steps to keep staff and customers safe. These include: the removal of all make-up testers, increased use of hand sanitiser between each customer, hand sanitiser available for use by customers upon entry, a bring your own pen policy for signing of prescriptions, and increased cleaning of high traffic areas. Appropriate hand and personal hygiene practices have been reiterated to all staff.

We respectfully ask if you are unwell with a cough, sneeze, fever or sore throat to get someone else to collect your items from our pharmacies or to use our on-line service.

Keeping a safe distance

We are limiting the number of people in our stores at any one time and adding signs and markers throughout the stores and at counters to help you follow social distancing guidelines. We remind you that it is also your responsibility to ensure you maintain 1.5m distance from other customers and staff when in our stores.

We respectfully ask if you are unwell with a cough, shortness of breath, fever or sore throat to get someone else to collect your items from our pharmacies or use our low touch options, including Chemist Warehouse Online and Click & Collect

Click & Collect

Our click & collect service will be reinstated from Monday 30th March 2020 and we are working around the clock to provide you a pick-up and home delivery options.

Chemist Warehouse Online

We have increased staff resources for our on-line service and we encourage you to use it so as to have your medicines and other pharmacy items delivered to your door.

COVID-19 related products

We are working around the clock to secure and maintain supply of hand sanitiser, toilet paper, masks and other pharmacy products that are in high demand during this time. Please bear with us as we are struggling to get these items on the shelf. When available, purchase limits apply and will continue to apply.

Finally, we continue to keep abreast of the changing situation and adapting accordingly. We also encourage you to refer to the World Health Organisation and Australian Government Department of Health for the most up to date health advice.

The outbreak of COVID-19 is posing major challenges for us all. The fight against COVID-19 is a community effort, so let's act like a team and work together to return our community to full health.

Lastly, our staff, customer and the wider community are of paramount importance. Every single Chemist Warehouse team member is committed to this fight, and together we will get through this.

Thank-you,
