Dimetapp Elixir is an effective, pleasant tasting, sugar free formulation for relief of cold and allergy symptoms.
It contains an antihistamine (brompheniramine maleate) to relieve a runny nose, itchy, watery eyes and sneezing and a decongestant (phenylephrine hydrochloride) to relieve nasal and sinus congestion.
Sympathomimetics: Concomitant administration of
phenylephrine with other sympathomimetic agents
may cause a rise in blood pressure, as well as
produce additive effects and increased toxicity.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors: May produce a

Use in Pregnancy:
Safety in pregnancy has not been established,
therefore Dimetapp Elixir should not be used in

It is not known whether Dimetapp Elixir is
excreted in breast milk nor whether it has a
harmful effect on the new-born. Therefore Dimetapp
Elixir is not recommended for nursing mothers

Elixir, mild drowsiness may occur (less than 20
per cent of the population is affected). Therefore
until the response has been determined the patient
should be cautioned against engaging in operations
requiring alertness, such as driving, or operating

Each 5 mL contains:
Brompheniramine Maleate 2 mg
Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 5 mg.
Also contains: Ethanol, Citric Acid - Anhydrous,
Saccharin Sodium, Sodium Benzoate, flavour (Grape
Flavour Artificial) and dyes (Amaranth CI16185 and
Brilliant Blue FCF CI42090).
Dimetapp Elixir is grape flavoured and Sugar Free
6 to 12 years: 7.5 mL every 6-8 hours.
Adults: 10 mL every 6-8 hours. May be taken diluted with water or fruit juice. Not to be used in children under 6 years of age without medical advice. Do not exceed recommended dose.
In all cases of overdose, immediately call the Poisons Information Centre (Phone 13 11 26). Symptoms that may associated with an overdose include: nervousness, dizziness, sleeplessness, ataxia, hallucinations and convulsions.
In the event of overdose, discontinue medication and seek medical help immediately.
